The Holstee Manifesto

Read this "manifesto" and let me know what you think about it

  1. I think this would be a beautiful way to live life. I believe that if everyone lived by this manifesto the world would be a better place. All the points made seem to promote a stress free life and a life full of happiness. This seems like the ideal way to live life. There is nothing negative about the manifesto and it has a carefree tone to it. It seem like something teenagers would come up with because we've seen how unhappy some adults are and don't want to end up that way. So instead we change the normal way of doing things and live life the way we want. Again I think the manifesto is great and I wish I could live life without a care in the world but for right now in my reality the way of life expressed in this manifesto just doesn't exist.

  2. I have been thinking the same thing for a while. If we only live once, why
do so many people squander their only chance by doing something that they
don't even enjoy? Since we only get to do this once, isn't the logical
thing to do the things that make you happiest/strive to achieve your
goals? I guess a lot of the time people truly can't really comprehend that
one day they will stop living, it always seems like we have more time, you
know? So they waste a lot of it, or they settle for less than they really
    want.

  3. This poster is an example of purposeful living. It’s nice to be reminded that dreams, and passions are not superficial. This poster tells me that we should still leave room in our lives to explore and even accomplish our own dreams no matter the circumstances. We should all do what we love.

  4. This picture is telling us that we only live once and to take advantage of the things in life that you love and that mean the most to you. Because we only live once, we should allow ourselves to enjoy everything we do in life. Why do something that we don't enjoy? But in reality our we really able to enjoy everything we do? Are we suppose to quit our job and have a chance of not getting another one? I think we should all try and live by this manifesto as much as we can in order to enjoy the life we live.

  5. i think that this is a good way to live by and that more people should live by that and stop just complaining about their life and just change it

  6. Seems like a very existential view. Really values individual freedom and choices. I guess it's saying that we shouldn't waste or time on earth, but it can be a little vague. Seems like it kind of diminishes human responsibility. And it's maybe a little over the top at times. Still relevant and and interesting view, though.

  7. I think this is a really good example of the power people have to make their own decisions and while some of these points are really good but it is certainly not that simple. Such as quitting your job simply because you don't like it. Many people don't have the luxury of doing so just because they're unhappy. While I believe making personal decisions about your life like watching less t.v or getting out of a bad relationship are important some are easier than others.

  8. I like the message, but the whole "let me write something inspirational on a piece of paper and hold it in front of a camera" this is kind of corny in my opinion.

  9. This manifesto is the perfect example of living life to the fullest. This is a great example of the humanist perspective, which is all about reaching our full potential in life. If everyone were to live by these guidelines in life, I believe the world would be a much better place and everyone would be truly happy and free to do whatever they please.

  10. I love this manifesto because it is honestly how people are going to be able to be happy in their life. Nobody wants to be that person complaining that they have to go to a crappy job, or that they never do anything fun anymore. It's your choice to change how you live, and if you want to die in a hole then so be it, but to really live a fulfilled life, then this is the way to go. Too many people are making this world complicated, when really its very simple. If everyone did something that they loved every day, the general population would be much happier.

  11. This message shows how I personally believe everyone should live their life. Live the life you want to live, take charge of it, and enjoy every moment of it.

  12. The manifesto is trying to get the message across to live life to the fullest and do everything that you can while you can. Its about getting out there and doing something with yourself and not just waiting for something to come but to go out and get it.

  13. I think this type of life would be an awesome one to live. It shows how you should take advantage of the strengths in your personality and how you should not take life so seriously. It also mentions how making mistakes will shape your life and you could find out something about yourself that you never knew before. I feel like in today's world it is a great goal to try and live a life like the "manifesto" because people today get so caught up in competition and being the best. Sometimes you need to be thankful for where you are in life and not take life for granted.

  14. I think that it is a nice idea of how to make the most out of life. It makes me think about what i want to do with my life, and what sort of direction i want to take my life in.

  15. I love this because all of this is so true. Whenever life feels like it just sucks, usually you have to change something and I think a lot of people just sit around being miserable and waiting for someone else to make things better. If more people lived like this I think there would be less unhappiness. I like how its overall message is be proactive and do what you love.

  16. This manifesto shows how people should live their life. You must live passionately in order to be all that you can be. I think this completely reflects what a person's ideal life would be.

  17. It is a very inspiring thing. I love quotes and everything in that quote is true. Life it too short and we need to seize all of the opportunities. We will regret it if opportunities pass by. People do have different ways of living their life but we need to do the things we love and the things that make us happy.

  18. This sign is about living you life simply and happily. Sometimes answers are as simple as they seem to be. Being active and present in your daily life will give you more control over it and give you the ability to turn it in the direction you want. By doing more things that you enjoy instead of what you or society thinks you should enjoy, you will have a more pleasant life. Life is short and you will not get where you want to be by just sitting around and waiting for it to come to you. It is important to seize opportunities when you get them and enjoy being with the people around you.

  19. I think it is a really good message that says people should live life to the fullest and you should do things for yourself and because you love them not because you want to prove something to someone else. If you don't like something in your life change it. Its that simple.

  20. I think that this manifesto is very powerful. This message signifies that we do have our own choices and we live our own life, meaning that whether or not we like something we should do what interest us and not our peers. You only get to life your life once and you should be able to live your life the way you want. I think that this is important for people to realize this because it is a good life motto that we should all recognize and live by.

  21. I really like the message that this picture is trying to express. If you arnt happy change it, live your life the way you want too. Everyone has the power to be happy but you have to actually do something. Dont waste your life not doing what you love.

    ReplyDelete
  22. The message talks about not only taking advantage of the opportunities you are given but also going our and creating your own opportunities. You need to be proactive in life and live it to the fullest. Also, I like how it talks about learning from your mistakes because your mistakes are what define you as a person.

  23. This poster tells us how we should live our lives. It seems to try to basically sum up every single problem you can run into and gives you a simple answer as to how you can easily fix it. The message it portrays would be much harder to apply to your life than the writer makes it seem. Although reading it is uplifting, it over generalizes life in an attempt to make things seem more simple than they are.

  24. I think what it is saying is entirely true. One thing that the Holstee Manifesto stated that stood out to me was "If you don't like something change it." It's important in my eyes to do the things you love and live your life to the fullest. Even though this Manifesto relays a powerful and positive message, I think there are some downfalls to this way of living. If you really think about it, if everyone in the world did the things they love, who would do the hard, low paying labor? People might start refusing to pay taxes or even refuse to follow the laws. Their excuse to this would be "You Only Live Once" and "Life is Short". I don't think I explained this very well! All in all, this would be a great way of living but people would still need to understand that things happen in the world that you might not agree with.

  25. I think that if everyone lived this way, we wouldn't have so many problems in the world. This shows that there are solutions to every problem, there is always something you can do to make things better. People don't always have 100% control over their lives, but "if you don't like something, change it". It is important for people to be confident and know that you can always be happy, and to make happiness the focus of their lives, because "life is short".

  26. I completely agree with the manifesto. Although I do think it would be difficult to take such extreme risk but if everyone did follow their heart then more people would be happy. If more people were happy in this world then there would most definitely be less conflict. I don't think many people live with the thought process of what would make them happy but other what would make them money and money doesn't always achieve happiness in life. I think the world would be a better place if more people made the choice to be happy, followed their heart, didn't hold grudges, and were passionate about what they were doing.

  27. While I believe that this would be a great way to live one's life, I think it would be hard for everyone to accomplish. In today's world people are so caught up in what they are doing they never slow down to find another way. Life really is short. I feel like High school started yesterday. I definitely agree with a lot of the principals in this manifesto and I will certainly try to incorporate them into my own life because it is important for people to step out of their comfort zone

  28. I like the idea of this Manifesto. But I feel like it would be hard to follow by all the time. Cause there will be parts of your life where you are doing something that you truly don't love but at the same time it would be hard to walk away from. But I do like the idea if you don't like something change it. Because if you don't ever speak up or stand up for something then it might stay the same for a long time and there might be others who feel the same as you but just do not want to speak up.

  29. This is great advice, especially for someone our age. It is good to know this before we have made any real mistakes yet. I like that they said "appreciate every last bite". This is so important to do in our lives. We are given so much and we are so lucky to have everything we have, but it is easy to forget that and just take everything for granted. This would be a great thing to do as a "bucket list" to try and live life as it says. I also like that they say, "if you don't like something, change it". It is so important in our lives to enjoy everything and not t do anything that we don't like.

  31. I agree with the Manifesto that people should enjoy their lives. However, when it talks about doing what you want, some responsibility comes with that. You cannot always do what you want and that is a part of life. All of the dirty, scary and dangerous jobs have to be done by someone. The responsibility as a person is to sacrifice some of your wants for what has to be done. I still believe that people should live their lives to the fullest and enjoy every minute of it. People should see life as an opportunity and not take it for granted. I think the main message of this Manifesto is spot on and I completely agree with it.

  32. I honestly wish that more people would live their day-to-day lives as
stated in this manifesto. The messages portrayed in this are fantastic. I
think that everyone would be less stressed and more focused on doing what
they love, rather than what they feel like they have to do if they
followed this. I especially love the lines "stop overanalyzing," "start
doing things you love," and "live your dream and share your passion." I
will try to live my life more like this manifesto and will encourage
others to do the same because the messages are so encouraging!

  33. I think that this manifesto describes a life of happiness. The manifesto basically says to me that you should live your life the way you want to and dont let anyone change the way you want to be. Also i think its saying that you only live once and you should make your life worth while.

  34. The fact that the poster says "life is short" makes me think of all the things in my life that I have failed to achieve, this gives me extra motivation to go out and achieve my goals and not to give up. This also makes me think of all the things in my life that I have taken for granted and how they could be gone at any time during my life. EJ Thurmond

  36. I completely agree with and love this manifesto. A key phrase that stuck out to me was "If you don't like something, change it." Realizing you don't like something is one thing, but actually doing something about it is another. Making a change that will better your life, no matter how hard it may be, is always worth it in the end. Another phrase that stuck out to me was "Life is short." Though this may sound harsh, it could not be anymore truthful. You never know which day will be your last so you really have to live each and every moment to the fullest.

  37. I really like this post, cause it really gets to one's personal self. It tells us to stop and take a look of what we are doing. "Am I happy with what I am doing right now? What is the point of ________?" It tells us to get moving, and do the things we love because "life is short" and if we waste our lives doing stuff we don't enjoy, then why are we doing it? Never do something that makes you unhappy, because without happiness, you won;t be able to enjoy the things you already have.

  38. It makes sense what was said in the article, after all the brain is considered the most advanced computer there is, all be it and organic one, still a type of computer with electrical impulses and signals running through it. If something gets messed with in our brain that can change the way the signals are sent and how our brain works, thus changing the way we are. it's kind of like the Phineas Gage case with the spike through his head, only a bit more severe, and changing him more drastically.

  39. I completely agree with this manifesto. It is saying to basically live life to the fullest without regrets. A lot of people realize that they don't like something but never do anything to change it... The words in the manifesto are very powerful, meaningful, and sound simple, but really none of them are that simple in life even though we wish they were sometimes.

  40. This manifesto is pretty great. It basically tells us to live life to its fullest. Don't let things pass you by because life is short and you dont want to miss out on anything while your hear. Also be thankful for what you are given. There are many people less fortunate that you and they would do anything to be in our positions.

  41. I completely agree with this manifesto! I think people often take life for granted and do not appreciate the little things. You only live once, you never get a re-do so you should live your life the way you want to, not the way others want you to.

  42. I think this is very powerful and very much encompasses the attitude of today's youth. We're slowly gearing towards doing what we love to be happy, hence the whole YOLO thing. This is very inspirational because it's promoting you to take control of your life instead of letting others dictate what you do. It's promoting a healthier lifestyle because it's promoting happiness.

  43. I think that this describes the perfect and ideal way of life. It would be difficult and probably close to impossible to directly follow everything that it says, but it would be nice if more people lived like that. I love that it is so carefree, and says that life will figure itself out if you just let it. Stop waiting and expecting things to happen. It sets the perfect guidelines to a perfect life. Whether a person can achieve this or not, it is a good way to look at things. Hannah Bell

  44. I think that this is a great way to look at life. It's all about enjoying life, even the little things. It talks about following your heart and doing what you love. However I think it would be irresponsible to follow this message literally. If you quit your job and traveled you would run our of money incredibly quickly. But if you take the overall message of this, find something you're passionate about, then I think you will lead a much happier life.

  45. Although this would be an amazing way to live life, sometimes you have to do things you don't want to and just appreciate the little moments of happiness you have. I really like this manifesto and hope to live by it someday.

  46. This is a very optimistic way to look at life. If everyone was able to live their life with a smile on their face, taking advantage of opportunities, finding the good in people, and doing things they loved then this would be a utopian world. Living life by these guidelines would not allow people to judge other or themselves, it would give people the opportunity to be the best person they can be, helping others and our world. I am going to try to live this kind of life though it definitely will not be easy.
